Wonderful restaurant. My family went there three times. We kept trying other places and they didn’t measure up. We got the fresh (whole) fish, octopus, bacalhau, chicken skewers, steak. All were very fresh, well prepared and came with many sides. The owner Sonia is very friendly and warm. Highly recommend!!!

The Gastrónomo was our absolutely favorite of several visited restaurants on São Miguel! Unfortunately, we discovered it only at the end of our vacation and only visited it twice.
Sónia, her husband, and server Alfonso were the most open-minded and affectionate people we have met!!
Even if it was stressful with a full restaurant, everyone of them always(!!!) had smiles on the face and the service was unexcelled.
We felt attended very well and also positively entertained.
And every dish that we tried was absolutely delicious!!
Our favorite was the cheese of Flores Island (Queijo da Ilha das Flores) together with pineapple jam, the meat skewer, vegetable rice as side dish, every fish, and their homemade chocolate mousse (we also tried chocolate mousses in several other restaurants)!
And at the end, it awaits you a surprise, which I will not reveal.
